To improve the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum through programs that focus on public resources, educational needs and community stewardship.

Autism Caregivers Connect is a 501(c)(3) Florida non-profit corporation that was formed as a response to the absence of informative, social and emotional support in Brevard County for autistic individuals, their parents and primary caregivers. As an organization created by parents of autistic children, our goal is to help others in our community who are dealing with this syndrome. Whether it be an autistic individual trying to find understanding people or caregivers seeking support, we want to help them become well-informed of the various resources our community has to offer us, while providing a comfortable atmosphere to learn, socialize and draw on the experiences of others.

About Us

Autism Caregivers Connect wants every autistic individual or parent/guardian of an person with autism to understand that they are not alone in their journey. The struggles, frustrations, and feeling like no one else understands – we have all been there.

Even though every Person with autism is different in his or her own way; there are common traits we all contend with on a daily basis. No matter where someone or someone’s child may be on the spectrum, every one of us can draw from mutual experiences and share our challenges and triumphs with others on the path. Wherever you are, Autism Caregivers Connect wants you to feel welcome.

Central Brevard Autism Support Group Meetings

The purpose of our meetings is to learn how we as caregivers can be more equipped to deal with the challenges our children may face. Guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds come to speak in an informal capacity to share their knowledge and answer questions. We cover topics such as diet, social interaction, school and available treatments. Then, as time permits, we talk, network, and essentially, learn about one another.

Our meetings are FREE and open to the public. Not just to parents or caregivers, but to anyone interested in learning more about Autism and it's effect on families.

The meetings start at 7pm and encourage anyone wanting to eat to try and show up at least 30 minutes early so that we are done before the speaker starts their presentation. For more information about our Autism Support Group Meetings click here.

Our Brevard Autism Support Group Outings

In addition to our Autism Support Group Meeting we also have informal get-togethers. Adult Social Outings where the caregivers can just get out and get to know each other a little better. And Family Outings where we can have a little fun and provide a safe social environment for the kids.

Adult Outings

We understand as a caregiver of someone on the autistic spectrum, sometimes you need an evening off. We also understand that when your life is so involved with these kids it is hard to find other people that understand what you are going through. With that in mind we set up outings from time to time where we can get together and unwind a little. For more information about our Adult Outings click here.

Family Outings

We also understand the need for family time and the importance of socialization. From time to time we set up Family Outings were we can get the kids out for a few hours. We set up events like beach days, pool parties and even trips to the zoo. We are always looking for new places to go so if you have any ideas please let us know. Environmental Program

One of our goals with this program is to help teach autistic kids the importance of our environment and how they can make a difference. By getting these kids out working on projects like this we are helping them feel a since of accomplishment through teamwork. Many of these kids have social issues so by letting them work hand in hand with the community toward a common goal will help them experience how when we work together we can accomplish so much more. Our hope is also that by having the community work with people on the Autism Spectrum they will understand a little more about them.

Central Florida Autism Friendly Locations

One of the most frustrating tasks parents of autistic children face is finding restaurants, places to get our child’s hair-cut, doctors, dentists, and other resources near our homes where people understand what our kids go through. The goal of this site is to put together a list of Autistic Friendly Locations. Not all of the businesses listed cater to autistic children but they are understanding to their needs. About Our Website

Our website is constantly growing and our goal is to continue to post up-to-date resources for everyone who interacts with autistic children. We list ongoing meetings and workshops, as well as activities for children, teens and adults; and also post stories submitted by our members, to show others that they are not alone. There is even a page dedicated to places and businesses we have found in the area, that are receptive, non-judgmental and safe.
